After a jam-packed school year and not enough home visits, my best friend and I packed up the Jeep and headed off on a week-long road trip to three southern charm-filled cities that have been our travel bucket list long enough: Savannah, GA; Charleston, SC; Chattanooga, TN; and Atlanta, GA. Although we didn’t actually get to stay overnight in Savannah during this trip, we still count it as one of our destinations because… well because it’s always one of our favorite stops–whether it’s three hours or three days!
Although this cute coastal city of Georgia deserves way more than just a three hour visit, I will admit that it was definitely one of my favorite stops during our trip (as always).
Lunch at The Public Kitchen & Bar
Shout out to Savannah locals for introducing us to The Public Kitchen & Bar for lunch; I will never forget the heavenly taste of their DELICIOUS club sandwich and pasta salad. I’m basically salivating just at the thought of it, hahah. But if you do ever find yourself in Savannah, be sure to check this place out for a good lunch! 😋
Aside from the meal, the atmosphere in the restaurant was just great! Especially with its charming midcentury-modern decor. It was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy after a few hours of drive time, and an even better pick-me up to help us get through the next few hours to our next destination.
After lunch, we knew we couldn’t leave Savannah without stepping into all the boutiques and little shops in the area. We also needed to walk that meal off before driving for the next few hours!
There’s just something about supporting local that I can never pass up when there is one. No small business is the exact same or has the same mission. But they do tell a lot about a place and the people who live in the area.
Plus, you can find some of the cutest things that you would never find in any other chain retail store. And yes, same goes for restaurants. Sometimes the hole in the walls, mom and pop restaurants, and local places will give you some of the best meals you’ve ever had!
Southern Charm Antiques
After walking through several shops and having a great lunch, we had to get back on the road if we wanted to make it to our next destination!
Don’t worry Savannah, we’ll come back soon! We always do. Until then, here’s where we ended up next on our road trip!
